THE TRANSPLANT IS ON
The date is Saturday the 27th September 2008, the event is the 4th anniversary for OXCI. The announcement: OXCI is to be "transplanted" in to North Oxford, as God is calling us to affect culture in our city. So began the search for an appropriate venue. After knocking on numerous doors and talking to numerous head teachers, all doors seamed tightly shut. I started facing the reality that the Holy Spirit may be closing the doors and that we were to look closer to home, Reminding me of Paul's travels as the Holy Spirit opened and closed doors of opportunity.
Acts 16:6-10 And they went through the region of Phrygia and Galatia, having been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to speak the word in Asia. 7 And when they had come up to Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, butthe Spirit of Jesus did not allow them. 8 So, passing by Mysia, they went down to Troas. 9 And a vision appeared to Paul in the night: a man of Macedonia was standing there, urging him and saying, “Come over to Macedonia and help us.” 10 And when Paul had seen the vision, immediatelywe sought to go on ito Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to preach the gospel to them.
Paul again in 1 Corinthians speaks of an "effective work/door of opportunity having opened to him."
1 Corinthians 16:9 "for a wide door for effective work has opened to me, andthere are many adversaries."
A wide door of effective work has opened to us. God has opened a door into the heart of Kidlington through Gosford School. The positioning of Gosford will place OXCI in a position of prominence with the Gosford Health Center, police station and bus route on our doorstep. I believe we will be able to effectively reach into North Oxford because of the bus route going past directly in front of Gosford School.
The school hall can seat 250 and with what God is doing through Lej we are confident that this is the right venue for us to "Transplant" OXCI to.
The time frame has still to be confirmed, we should have this by mid June. Please continue to pray and lets trust God for continued favour and doors of opportunity in Oxford.
